Incredibox

Let us get back to the music.

I came across this incredible site called Incredibox.

I have to say this site is a lot of fun. It is a flash program that allows you to add beat symbols to the guys standing in frame. Put the symbol on their shirt. They then start performing different beats depending on the symbols. I spent a bunch of time on this. It is even more fun when drunk on Rum.

I did a crappy recording of one of these sessions. The sound was a bit off and I wasn't being very professional but the rum made me sloppy. Give a listen.

Create your own creations and have a bit of fun. If you can't have fun with music, then what is the point to life?

Real Super Heroes

Who has not had a thought in their head about being a super hero? The very idea of helping people while wearing a mask is fantastic. We hear stories all our lives of people going above and beyond to help others. Most of our generation was brought up reading comic books at one time or another. Then there is the step beyond where real people put on costumes and try to help this world the best they can.

I am talking about Real Super Heroes.

The idea of being a super hero is a fantastic dream. Though, I am not sure how something like this can play out in real life. I am not trying to be snarky but it begs the question why do people do it? People can be a hero by helping other people from stopping a crime to returning a lost item. There are many levels to helping people or a community. As a dreamer myself, I love super heroes and what they stand for. I do enjoy the fact that there are people who are really doing this. Really going out there and trying to bring a little light to the darkness we at times call humanity.

I was researching the idea of super heroes and came across a lot of information on real people, dressing up, wearing masks and fighting crime. My inner geek loves the idea but I am sure being a hero can be difficult. I mean there are real people out there that do bad things and carry very real weapons. In one attempt, you could stop a robbery and end up bleeding in the street from one or more gun shot wounds. Police do it everyday. Military personnel do it every day. It is a way of life, not necessarily a long life.

Below are some sites I came across in this little excursion into real super heroes.

World Super Hero Registry
CNN Article on Real Super Heroes
Real Life Super Heroes

There is even a movie coming out that I cannot wait to see. Kick Ass is a movie about a teenager that really wants to fight crime as a super hero. When I saw the trailer, I was all about it. But again, this is my dreamy geek side that wants to see this movie.

I am not trying to make fun of the subject. I just cant help but feel that every costumed hero out there is a dreamer, trying to live as a legend or inspire new and wonderful myths. They want to go out and live that wonderful feeling of doing good. This world is pretty messed up on it's own but you do have people out there trying to make it better, any way they can. I do wish them the best in everything they do. Keep fighting for justice you dreamers of the waking world!

But......

There is a strange twisted side of myself that wonders how many super villains are out there? Do they lurk in the dark and bring misdeeds to society? Do they rip off the tags on pillows? Do they put stickers on ATM screens so people have a difficult time accessing their money? Do they just do misdeed after misdeed? I have always been a person of balance. My mind does wander to the yang of these super hero's ying. If they are out there, do they see these real heroes and plot against them? How long before they do a real reality show on this very subject? (No, I am not talking about, Who wants to be a Super Hero.)

I think only time will tell. I am sure the Internet will be watching.

Heroes and villains! Keep the dream alive!

The Art of Geek

Art comes in all shapes, sizes and forms. Anything geek is a true work of art and a playground to the average dreamer.

I have been sick for about two weeks now and have had little time to do anything super constructive. I spent much of my time indulging in some geekery and having a blast as I did it. To have fun is a sure way to better your health, or so I told myself. Here is a small sampling of my recent activities.

World Of Warcraft is where I spent some of my days, but mostly my nights, fighting enemy forces and trying to get enough emblems to get my Tier 9 Armor. I was recently re-addicted to the game and it drove its maddening claws into me. Something about upping my Undead Mage to uber status made me feel all warm and yummy. (Or it could have been the sickness, who knows?) I wont bore you with screen shots....oh who am I kidding. Here you go!

Next on the agenda is Marvel Zombies: Dead Days. I picked this up in hard cover and felt like a teenager once more. The basic plot is Earth's super hero's are attacked by some mysterious virus that turns anyone bitten into a zombie. They keep their mind but are so filled with a hunger for living flesh, they must eat anyone around them. The virus is pretty fast acting and can destroy an entire world in 24 hours. This is the bare bones of the plot but I have always thought that zombies just made everything better! I am just about finished and will be looking to get the entire collection. I did buy Marvel Zombies Vs. The Army of Darkness as well and will read that one next.

And finally, NovaBelle came across this game and introduced it to me. It goes by the name GemCraft. It is a very addicting tower based game where you mix and match gems to create powers. You put those gems on your bases so they destroy enemy creatures trying to take you out. It is hard to tear away when you get into it. If you ever need a time waster, this is the game for you. But I cannot deny how much fun it is. A few hours of my life were gone due to this game but none the less, it was a fun ride.

Give GemCraft a try, if not for the amusement of getting back at your bosses for making you work for your pay check.

As I said, I love to play in other people's dreamworlds and the geek world is full of them. So I suggest you start playing. I hear being serious all the time causes cancer. You don't want cancer, do you?

Haunted New Track

I had been putting music together for some time now. This track has to be my favorite. Give a listen.

Haunted-JulianRavage by Julian Ravage

I know I tend to gravitate to the industrial side of music but I found this melody a bit haunting. Something about it reminds me of being someplace quiet and misty.

Enjoy and be free.

A Day Away.

Sometimes you just need a day away from the city. NovaBelle and I had been going crazy lately. We had been stuck in the house several times. The snow was not fun to be in. I have wanted spring to get here at soon as possible.

So, we decided we needed a day trip away from everything. We went upstate NY to Tea Town Park. It was a beautiful place. We hiked and carried on like a bunch of kids. It was truly needed. Below are some shots from our day trip.

Sun set

NovaBelle and friends laughing it up with goofy pictures.

Hiking is serious business.

Peaceful Woods

I just had to take it easy and get away. It did recharge my batteries a little.

Tuesday I will be unveiling one of my best and newest songs. I really liked working on it and feel this is the direction I want to go.

Enjoy the Oscars! (If people watch that sort of thing.)

Mind Drink

Time and I have not been friends lately. I hate being so busy that I am racing home, doing everything I need and then slamming into bed. Get up and repeat.

I did want to get back into the music. I have been working on some new music lately but I only have one track I am very proud of. I have been questioning should I simply post it or hold back. Then I asked myself, why am I holding back? I think it tends to be a knee jerk reaction that when I create something, I have to be selective when I show it. I dont know where that comes from but it can be pretty annoying. This is a place for new things.

I need to work on the track just a bit longer and I will post it in the coming week.

But for now, I will share another track from my old collection. I call it Mind Drink.

MindDrink-JulianRavage by Julian Ravage

Dont ask me how I got the name. I just thought of it when I put this track together a few years ago. If you didn't know, I am a little strange.
