Who has not had a thought in their head about being a super hero? The very idea of helping people while wearing a mask is fantastic. We hear stories all our lives of people going above and beyond to help others. Most of our generation was brought up reading comic books at one time or another. Then there is the step beyond where real people put on costumes and try to help this world the best they can.
I am talking about
Real Super Heroes.
The idea of being a super hero is a fantastic dream. Though, I am not sure how something like this can play out in real life. I am not trying to be snarky but it begs the question why do people do it? People can be a hero by helping other people from stopping a crime to returning a lost item. There are many levels to helping people or a community. As a dreamer myself, I love super heroes and what they stand for. I do enjoy the fact that there are people who are really doing this. Really going out there and trying to bring a little light to the darkness we at times call humanity.
I was researching the idea of super heroes and came across a lot of information on real people, dressing up, wearing masks and fighting crime. My inner geek loves the idea but I am sure being a hero can be difficult. I mean there are real people out there that do bad things and carry very real weapons. In one attempt, you could stop a robbery and end up bleeding in the street from one or more gun shot wounds. Police do it everyday. Military personnel do it every day. It is a way of life, not necessarily a long life.
Below are some sites I came across in this little excursion into real super heroes.
World Super Hero RegistryCNN Article on Real Super HeroesReal Life Super HeroesThere is even a movie coming out that I cannot wait to see.
Kick Ass is a movie about a teenager that really wants to fight crime as a super hero. When I saw the trailer, I was all about it. But again, this is my dreamy geek side that wants to see this movie.
I am not trying to make fun of the subject. I just cant help but feel that every costumed hero out there is a dreamer, trying to live as a legend or inspire new and wonderful myths. They want to go out and live that wonderful feeling of doing good. This world is pretty messed up on it's own but you do have people out there trying to make it better, any way they can. I do wish them the best in everything they do. Keep fighting for justice you dreamers of the waking world!
But......
There is a strange twisted side of myself that wonders how many super villains are out there? Do they lurk in the dark and bring misdeeds to society? Do they rip off the tags on pillows? Do they put stickers on ATM screens so people have a difficult time accessing their money? Do they just do misdeed after misdeed? I have always been a person of balance. My mind does wander to the yang of these super hero's ying. If they are out there, do they see these real heroes and plot against them? How long before they do a real reality show on this very subject? (No, I am not talking about,
Who wants to be a Super Hero.)
I think only time will tell. I am sure the Internet will be watching.
Heroes and villains! Keep the dream alive!
